In this CAD tutorial we'll use the features:
Extrude and Cuts 🗡️
Thin Extrude (Thin Feature): This option, found within the standard Extrude command, is used to create a thin-walled solid from a single line or an open sketch profile. Instead of creating a solid block, it generates a thin sheet with a specified thickness along the sketch's path. This is useful for creating features like ribs or thin supports.
Extrude Cut: This is a specific operation within the Extrude command used to remove material from an existing body. You define a profile and then extrude it into the part, selecting the "Cut" operation to subtract the volume.
Edge and Feature Refinement 📐
Fillet: This command creates a smooth, rounded edge on a part by adding or removing material. You specify a radius for the rounded curve. It is used for aesthetics and to reduce stress concentrations on sharp corners.
Rib: This command is used to create a thin-walled support feature that adds strength and rigidity to a part. You create it by sketching a single line (or multiple lines) that represents the path of the rib, and the command automatically creates the feature with a specified thickness, perpendicular to the sketch plane.
Construction and Symmetry 🛠️
Offset Plane: This command creates a new construction plane parallel to an existing face or plane at a specific distance. It is essential for creating new sketches or features at precise locations where there is no existing geometry to sketch on.
Mirror: This command is used to create a symmetrical copy of a feature, body, or component. It's a powerful tool for designing symmetrical parts, as you model only one half and then mirror it to create the other. You select the object to be copied and the plane or face to mirror it across.
