Overview
The right-angle belt transmission is a mechanical movement used to transfer rotation between shafts positioned at 90 degrees. It redirects rotary motion using guide pulleys and a flexible belt, providing a simple and efficient way to change the direction of power flow in compact machines.gears or modifying the shaft layout.

How It Works
This movement operates by routing a belt from the driving pulley to the driven pulley through two small guide pulleys. Each guide pulley redirects one side of the belt, bending its path to form a clean 90-degree transition. As the input pulley rotates, the belt transmits motion to the output shaft while maintaining smooth, continuous rotation. The geometry ensures stable belt alignment and consistent power transfer.

Main Components
Driving Pulley – supplies the input rotation.
Driven Pulley – receives the redirected motion at 90°.
Guide Pulleys (2) – change the belt's direction and stabilize routing.
Belt – flexible element that transmits rotational force.
Shafts – support the pulleys and define the right-angle layout.
Applications
Compact machinery layouts
Automation and assembly equipment
Light industrial machines
Educational mechanical demonstrations
Systems requiring silent, low-cost right-angle transmission
Advantages
Simple and low-cost construction
Quiet and smooth motion
Flexible shaft positioning
Easy maintenance and belt replacement
No need for bevel gears or complex gearboxes
Limitations
Additional friction from belt redirection
Increased belt wear over time
Not ideal for high-torque applications
Requires enough space for guide pulleys
Technical Notes
Proper belt tension is essential to avoid slipping.
Pulley diameter ratio determines speed transmission.
Ensure guide pulleys are aligned to prevent belt twisting.
Reinforced belts increase durability and stability.
