In this CAD tutorial we'll use the features:
Here are concise explanations for the Extrude, Chamfer, Mirror, Revolve, and Thread commands — common and essential tools in 3D CAD software such as Fusion 360 and Inventor.
Creating and Modifying Solids
Extrude: This is the most fundamental command for transforming a 2D sketch into a 3D solid. It works by extending the sketch profile in a straight line, either to add material (“join”) or remove material (“cut”).
Revolve: Creates a 3D shape by rotating a 2D profile around a central axis. It’s the most efficient way to model circular or cylindrical symmetric parts such as shafts, pulleys, or vases.
Detailing and Finishing
Chamfer: Used to modify an edge by creating a flat, angled surface instead of a rounded one (as in a fillet). It’s applied to break sharp corners, ease assembly, or improve aesthetics.
Thread: A specialized command used to apply cylindrical threads (internal or external) to holes or shafts. Instead of modeling the complex thread geometry, this command provides a visual representation and defines the technical specifications of the thread (such as size and pitch).
Symmetry and Patterning
Mirror: Creates a symmetrical copy of a feature, body, or component. It’s a powerful tool for designing symmetric parts, saving time by modeling only one half and mirroring the other.
All dimensions are in mm/g/s/ISO
